Box Art Face Off #3
Today I am comparing the Japanese Zelda no Densetsu: Yume o Miru Shima with the US The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening. These two box arts are very different styles just check them out, again Japanese art is on the left and USA is on the right.
Wow, so like I said we have some very different approaches here. Lets start with the Japanese one, first off let me say that I just love all the color here. There are a lot of characters from the game and it has the giant egg in the background its really easy to tell what game you are talking about in the series just by looking at this art. Then there is the US art which keeps it simple but stylish. A fitting gold background with a bold Zelda logo as the focus. Its very clean but to keep it interesting there is a lot of detail in the shield and sword.
Verdict time I think it might be surprising but I actually think I like the simple take of the US art. As pure images I love the Japanese one but for a box or cartridge I think the US got it right.
