A New Game Store and Golden Week Deals

This week I went to a new game/toy shop with my girlfriend and it was pretty epic. So epic might be an over statement but it was pretty cool. It was so cool that we decided that we would put it in the rotation however due to the location of the shop, pretty far away, we will likely only visit it once every 6 months or so. When we walked in the first thing I saw was the Gameboy display, basically a massive amount of games on a pegboard. Jaw, floor, hit.
So the problem was that while there was a lot of games the prices, ugh the prices. So the price range of the GB games started at 300 yen and went up from there. Now that is not a horrible price but I would much prefer the 100 yen starting price, unless its something awesome/rare. I was able to find a bunch of games I need but at those prices I only picked up a few well really just one from the wall and that was "Mach Go Go Go!". I hadn't seen that one in the wild before so anything under 500 yen would have been do able but lucky for me it was only 300 yen.

Then I decided that I wanted a few of the more expensive games from the case. I ended up getting "Bomber King Scenario 2" for 1800 yen and "Ikari no Yousai 2" for 1400 yen, a little high but when I think about it they are pretty fair prices and they are in very nice condition too.
I had just gotten Ikari no Yousai 1 about 2 weeks before this blog started so I was pretty excited to find number 2, and both games are really fun too. Also just to note I had not seen these games in the wild before so maybe that also had something to do with my willingness to pay the higher price tag.

So that was exciting and all but then while spending a few days at my girlfriends place during Golden Week, its a 3 day holiday in Japan from May 3rd to the 5th (why they call it a week I have no idea), we decided to go out for sushi and to stop by at a store (a normal store with house hold products and no games. Why, right?). This store was close to some of my normal stomping grounds so I asked her if we could go to one of them and she said that was fine, you know cuz she is awesome.

I was excited to see they had a few new GB games and one was a game I had been looking for "Street Fighter II" I had only seen it once before, which is odd because you would think that it was a pretty popular game back in the day, and that sighting happened to be at the same store. A little pricey at 798 yen, this store has interesting prices that usually end in 98 for some reason, but this one was in great condition much better than the previous one which was pretty yellow/brown.

I also picked up some other games that were not super common but not so much of the "special to me for no real reason" variety and they were:

Dino Breeder 98 yen (a game with just awful sticker art bleh)
Heracles no Eikou: Ugokidashita Kamigami 498 yen
Jungle Wars 498 yen
Taiyou no Tenshi Marlow O Hanabatake wa Dai-Panic 398 yen
Okay so Dino Breeder is not uncommon but come on 98 yen not gonna be that. No choice in the matter, I mean my hands were tied. Right?

However,(note following sentence to be read in movie trailer guy voice for effect) awesome-ness was on the horizon, for when we arrived at the register and they presented us with the total it turned out that due to the holiday the games were all half price! That and my use of my previously saved up points (on my store members point card) which was good for 420 yen I walked out of there with a very big smile and a very small hit to my wallet.

Also as a side note I had picked up this Saturn girl figure from the Sega Hard Girls series. Basically they take Sega systems and give them an anime counter part, I have no idea past that because I have never watched the series or played the game (I think there is a game, uhh maybe). Anyway I also love the Sega Saturn and I saw this for 300 yen so I said what the heck but when I left because of the sale it was only 50 yen!! I know that's more than the advertised 50% off, not sure whats really going on there also don't really care.
I mean just look at that sweet Sega Saturn Base, that was the driving force behind the whole purchase.
